Conscious Connected Breathwork
Conscious connected breathwork is a profound practice that invites us to move beyond talking therapy and into embodied transformation. Through a specific breathing pattern with no pauses between breaths, you access deeper layers of awareness, releasing old patterns held in the body while connecting with your innate wisdom. This practice creates a space where the breath becomes both the gateway and the guide, allowing what needs attention to arise naturally and what's ready to be released to move through. It's not about adding something new, but remembering the wholeness that already exists within you.
This guide will help you get a sense of what conscious connected breathwork is, what a session looks like, some of the possible experiences and health conditions to discuss if relevant.
My Introduction to Conscious Connected Breathwork
During my adventure with cancer in 2021, I was invited into a deeper dive than ever before into my own psyche and mind-body connection. The psychedelic-assisted therapy world seemed so exciting and held such promise, then I learnt we can access non-ordinary states of consciousness through breathwork. I was intrigued. My first experience of one hour of modified breathing was a revelation. I experienced a rebirth and the whole universe in my womb! I don’t think this is standard, but I knew I needed to learn how to facilitate this and share it more widely.
In April 2025, following a 10-month course, including case studies, I completed my training with Seven Directions Breathwork, bringing conscious connected breathwork facilitation to my offerings.
The Beauty of Conscious Connected Breathwork
At its heart, this practice involves creating a continuous flow of breath, where each inhalation flows seamlessly into the exhalation. There's no need to know the technique beforehand – I'll guide you through everything during our session. What makes this practice unique is its simplicity and accessibility. It's free, legal, and available to us whenever we need it. It is based in the knowing that our body holds all of our truth and knows how to move through, process and release the layers of challenge we have picked up and absorbed during our life.

- Memories or insights emerging
- Expansive states of consciousness

Navigating Your Experience
I believe this practice isn't about pushing for particular experiences or dramatic releases. Instead, it's an invitation to notice what emerges. Your body and breath know what you need in each moment, and sometimes the subtlest shifts can be the most meaningful.
The conscious connected breath through the mouth is naturally activating. If you feel you need to downregulate the intensity, you can:
- Slow the breath down and extend the exhale
- Shift to breathing through your nose rather than your mouth
- Add gentle humming on your exhale
- Create slight resistance by breathing out through pursed lips
You are pacing your experience, and we will discuss this further on the day; however, it is important to note that some people have very powerful experiences through breathwork, and it is good to be prepared for this possibility.
After your Session
Integration is an important part of the practice. I encourage you to:
-
Allow space for rest and reflection
-
Keep yourself well-hydrated
-
Connect with nature if possible
